Dave, do you know how long it took me to get the translation from English into German for that question? I don't even know German!
It has to be a hybrid as you say, nobody recognizes it. Very cool, lime-green coloring too.

Thanks Timm! A word of caution if you ever travel to San Fransisco, never call it 'Frisco or the locals will have your scalp on a pole  .

A hearty welcome Dave! But first, a question. Is it 'Miz-zer-ee' or Miz-zer-ah'? Anyway, good to have you. I am mainly a collector of Tillandsias, with over 400 plants consisiting of 300+ species and hybrids. I'm also a BIG fan of Billbergias! Great that you're here. http://img.photobucket.com/album...

Andreas, this is an old clump that broke in two. It never seems to send out roots. Also, it has never bloomed for me. Thanks for the blossom photos!

ionantha X anyone's guess

This plant is one of two I found hidden away in a tray at Birdrock Tropicals . The growth is much slower than regular and the leaves are much fleshier and rigid. Pam Koide is sure it is a hybrid due to all the pollen in the air surrounding the area. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v113/gonzer/HPIM...

I agree Joachim. When that tiny ID tag gets lost, you are in (as we say) "a world of hurt". That's why this site is so important, with all the knowledge around here someone's bound to identify it.

The long inflorescence is what makes me wonder. Paucifolia? Yes, as one parent, but the trichomes are very repressed which adds an un-worldly silvery sheen to the plant. It's growth is faster than regular paucifolia also.

Ho Andreas, that is a very desirable looking variation. Along the lines of the red-flowering T. durattii.

Hmmm, us Southern Californians are taking over! ;-) Welcome brominterest. I live down in Oceanside, Z9, and have about 600 to 700 plants outside. We are blessed with our temperate climate for growing bromeliads. Tillandsias, which are unfortunately, commonly called "air plants", are the re...
