new way for Tillandsia seed germination?

I often lose seedlings or don't get germination due to the cork pieces drying out too soon. I thought that by hanging them laterally instead of vertically I could retain moisture longer from the mister bottle I use since the water won't run off. No standing water in the nooks and crannies since they...

Andreas, Michael's is outstanding! I buy all my terrestrials from him. His Billbergias are top quality, large, and full of color. Plus he is a very nice guy!

Ali, you are correct, it would be aluminum. I had a temporary lapse of sanity! :edoh I like the aluminum vs. steel in it's ability to get much tighter coils without damaging the plants.

Nuno, the stricta hanger (with apologies to Ali) looks like lead wire, easily bent and managable. If you can find steel wire in the 18mm- 25mm gauge range, that's what I'd get. Various sizes are best when hanging plants that range from the tough, thick leaved specimens to the delicate, filiform spec...

Nuno, A complete water immersion for 8-12 hours is not necessary unless your plants have gone for a long period of time without any means of water. Some of the drier loving species such as shiedeana will actually suffer from this practice. When a plant is overly dry (desicated) the leaves will curl ...

Joachim, the plant in the last Guz photo is excellent...I wish I knew the ID. What is the clump of small plants that actually look like small Tillandsias growing to the left? Some form of Club Moss?

re-mounting and cleaning Tillandsia

I find that some caulescent plants, after 10-15 years, start to outgrow their cork settings by hanging way below the edge but having root support only at the top. Often these long stems are brittle and/or filled with old, dead growth. Cutting the stem back almost to the base seems to be the only way...

Seth, nice discovery! You've got to keep a pictorial update of it's growth.
