fertilization of xerics and others

I would like some of the members to discuss their feeding (your plants, not personal) :D habits of the gray-leafed Tillandsias. Please see my post in the English forum for an update. Experiences, good and bad, techniques, and frequency. I would appreciate any information that you would care to share...

foliar feeding/heavy trichomed species

I have noticed that T. crocata and T. tectorum show a lack of trichomes on new growth weeks after an application of foliar fertilizer. T. scheideana seems to exhibit the same symptoms at times. Does anyone have any experience concerning which species are susceptible to this after feeding?

Seth, I have never seen that on a plant! It looks great though. My guess would be some physiological condition under the surface of the leaf, resulting in the trichomes being unable to develop. It looks like reverse albo-margination in a way.

Excellent post Constanino! My post below infers to the same topic. I hope the Euro-group and Chanin (especially for this post) respond with some personal insight. The random name-tagging of plants has run amok. The market is being deluged with plants that have catchy names and high-end price tags bu...

T. usneoides roots w/photo

This is a recent shot of my seedling that sprouted from a seed pod glued to cork. D. Butcher wrote about it initially on his FCBS site saying roots are rarely, if ever, seen. The plant is 4" long and about 3 years old.

Timm, Joachim, there is no data available as this is a plant obtained through Tillandsia International. Along with this obviously mis-identified plant, I've gotten two other oddities labeled as aeranthos "Giant", shown below. There are glaring differences just in appearence alone. The flow...
