T. straminea (hard leaf form)

This plant is twice the size and the scape bracts recurve nicely with a touch of purple. Is anyone familiar with it?

SSair, the few specimens I've seen out here have been grown in cool greenhouses and still suffered. As Joachim alluded to, the elevation from which they are native to cannot be duplicated here. A photo in Esteves' book 'Bromeliads' shows two plants during the dry season which could be mistaken for d...

two superb Billbergias

Although the proper ID's are in question (soon to be cleared up), these two plants are exquisite in the boldness of the spotting. The clump was labeled B. colores and the other Seaborn's amoena 'Rubra'. You really have to meet them in person to appreciate their color. http://img.photobucket.com/albu...

OK, let's see where this goes. You be the judge. I don't think my mystery plant is a straight T.paucifolia. These comparison photos might back me up. Isn't T. intermedia now known as paucifolia? Here are the two side by side. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v113/gonzer/HPIM1553.jpg paucifolia var....

Yes I did see your post Lieselotte, but was waiting for this weekend to take pictures for comparison. In my eye, it is not a pure T. paucifolia. I'll take side-by-side photos to show. My mystery plant has a siver sheen to it, due to the strange nature of it's trichomes. Also, the bloom is much longe...

Is it...or not. Till ID

I lost about 200 plant tags 8 years ago when moving and the process of identifying the last batch is NOT fun! This one I think, is T. circinnatoides x capot-medusae. What say you?

Thanks for that info Timm. Derek though, makes a valid point about how L. Smith's observations about the 2 (?) species lead to confusion. It takes more than just size to validate a subspecies, right? My plant is symetrical in size with all being the same size too. Chanin, thanks for your help, as us...

Deuterocohnia brevifolia ssp. ?

I tend to think this is subspecies chlorantha and not brevifolia. Anyone else?

This is a much more stocky plant than the normal species. Very thick leaves and heavy too.

No it is not a hybrid SSair. A relatively new species.
Timm, I sent a photo to Ken Marks of FCBS and he also thinks that it doesn't look like the cocoensis in Harry Luther's 2006 Binomial. The Ken Woods pictures DO look like mine. Mmmm :? :?

Timm, looking at the photos you linked convinced me that it is cocoensis (I did have doubts). When seen in-hand it is exactly as the leaves and blossoms appear in the photos that Ken Woods provided. The blossoms have a fuschia colored tint to them too. It does not match up to any of my forms of T. a...

Tillandsia cocoensis in bloom

There is a very subtle purple hue to the blossoms which doesn't photograph too well.
