Tillandsia Identifications

Beitrag von ashb »

I recently ordered a package of tillandsias off of eBay. The seller did not respond when I requested labels. I'm new to these forms of bromeliads, although I have identified a few (with help) as ionathas, a bulbosa, and a brachycaulos. Can anyone else try and help me out? I appreciate any help!

Hi Ashton,
yet another pig in a poke ?

Okay, lets try some guessin' here .......

Left column from the top:
T. ionantha
T. aeranthos
T. bulbosa
T. fuchsii ?? (hard to see)
T. stricta

Right column from the top:
T. ionantha
T. ionantha
Big question mark
T. brachycaulos
another question mark

When in doubt, wait until they bloom an post images than again.
Flowers are necessary for proper identification.
Keep in mind that there are a lot of hybrids around. As long as you don't know,
whether these are wild species or just from someones nursery
it will hard to nearly impossible to tell any proper name.

Greetings to the Lone Star State, Timm

Hey Tim!

Thanks for the help! Don't worry, your educated guesses are probably more accurate thank mine will ever get. I'll get some updated pictures soon, two of the tillandsias have begun to flower. I'll post some individual pictures of the two question marks too!

Thanks again,
Ashton

Hopefully! Sorry about the pictures, I had to hold the tillandsias in an awkward position to take the pictures and it caused my other hand to shake. I appreciate the help.

#1 could be brachycaulos that's seen too much shade.

#2 no idea

#3 funkiana

#4 looks like something with neglecta in the mix

#5 stricta
