Unidentified Alcantarea
I attach pictures of an unidentified Alcanteria, seeds were imported from South America (location not known) in the 80s. It is not believed to be a hybrid but in truth nothing definate is known.
Any assistance that can be given would be greatly appreciated

In case these pics don't come across, they are in Bromeliad for Beginners Photos in geyornis album

Hi geyornis,
can't get on that site, it requires a login.
It does not seem to be the entire URL, maybe you did not copy the
whole thing.
In case your pics are allready uploaded to the internet, they have to have
an absolut URL. (right click on the image -> copy image URL).
Just paste that one into yout post here an put the imagetags
around it.
Greetings, Timm

Sorry pal, cant get in there.
Try to get the absolut URL of your image.
If you have it on your screen, click on "show image" or something like that
and you should see an URL that ends up with .jpg in the
top address bar.
That ist the one you need to post.
Or ist that yahoo thang only for registered users ?

Timm I hate to admit it but I am computerly challenged, I have posted 5 pics of Alcanterea in my photo album in Bromeliads for Beginners. Anyone with access to there should be able to find it, album is geyornis.
I will try again to post them here with the help of your info.
As I said earlier I suspect that plant is a species, that there was not any hybridising with Alcantereas in the early 80s, but who knows.
Hopefully pics will appear and you & others here may be able to assist

So finally here they are:
To be honest, this is not one of those few species I know...........
But maybe you could contact our member Andrew (Link),
he seems to be a much better expert in Alcantareas then I am.

Alcantarea
I have been in contact with a collector of Alcantarea who is based in Brisbane. He has indicated that this plant is an unidentified species of Alcantarea, however, it is found growing naturally on Mt Corcovado in Rio de Janeiro City. It has been called sp 'Corcovado'. The plant is often confused with extensa, and edmundoi.
Regards,
Andrew.
