Need Dyckia estevesii's pollen from another clone !!!

Anything that doesn't fit in the other forums ;-)
also for NON-bromeliad topics.

Need Dyckia estevesii's pollen from another clone !!!

Beitrag von chanin »

Hi all,

According to my Dyckia estevesii are blooming, those four plants came from the same clone
and they seem to be self-sterile, as last time I had tried to fertilize it, but did not success at all,
so if anyone have preserved any pollen of this species,
or had the blooming plant at the present time.
I 'ld be appreciated to received some pollens for crossing with my plants.

I hope the plants will set seed, then I could distribute this intersting Dyckia to another xeric brom lovers.

This was the last blooming one which didn't set seed.

These were another blooming plant, last month.

And this pic was taken last week while a group of Holland and Australia Brom collector visited my collection.

I would like to meet new friends in other part of the world and would be glad to trade plants or seed from this part of the world.

Hi Chanin,

my estevesii are about to bloom too.
I will give it a try and send you some as soon as the flowers are open.

Do you have any experience how long pollen can survive while
beeing shipped?

Greetings Timm

Hey Timm...that's great !

But I have no idea about the pollen's life span, anyway, I read somewhere in another forum that we could preserve it for a week or so in aluminium foil.

And does your plant set seed itself ?
Or if you need my pollen, I can send you too.
