Tillandsia cocoensis in bloom

There is a very subtle purple hue to the blossoms which doesn't photograph too well.

that is kinda strange.
Tillandsia cocoensis is, as far as I know, not discribed yet.
The plant and the name were originally spread by Mrs. Renate Ehlers,
who gave me my specimen. And that one looks much more like
Tillandsia araujei with white petals.
Unfortunately I do not have any pics on hand.

From the foliage I would call yours rather a kind of aeranthos.
But anyway, still a nice plant.

Where did you get yours ?

Timm, looking at the photos you linked convinced me that it is cocoensis (I did have doubts). When seen in-hand it is exactly as the leaves and blossoms appear in the photos that Ken Woods provided. The blossoms have a fuschia colored tint to them too. It does not match up to any of my forms of T. araujae except perhaps a larger, whiter version of araujae var. minima. Got any photos of your plant? Mine came from Birdrock Tropicals last year. Thanks for the link Timm!

No it is not a hybrid SSair. A relatively new species.
Timm, I sent a photo to Ken Marks of FCBS and he also thinks that it doesn't look like the cocoensis in Harry Luther's 2006 Binomial. The Ken Woods pictures DO look like mine. Mmmm

I agree, I got confusd by the first image, which appeared to blueish to me.

I have tried to purchase the 2004 edition via BSI.... it was sold out.
And the BSI Shop still tells the same !
Is there any chance to get a hand on a copy of either the 2004 or a 2006 edition ?
I am despirately looking for it

According to Mrs. Ehlers the species is not published and
the original description is still lying in her drawer.
What does Harry Luther say in that list ?
Does he mention any publication ?
