A remarkable terrestrial bromeliad : Orthophytum benzingii

Beitrag von chanin »

Amongst its relative, I think Orth. benzingii is one of the most remarkable species.
The plant has a caulescent, upright stem habit.

This is a plant in my collection with a 3.5 feet tall stem, and may grow up to 4-5 feet when flowering

Hi Chanin,

once again a record breaker! Would you mind sharing your secret recipe of fertilizer and organic nutrients? I know that Bangkok climate is one key to success, but I also know that it's not the only one... ;-)

Or is it because of your dogs? ;-)

Cheers,
Joachim

 Funny Funny Joachim !

My doggy "Bualoy" would like to thank you for mention him :D

By the way, my soil mix comprises of

1 part of loam with leaf-mold
2 parts of pellet size pumice
2 parts of perlite
with 14-14-14 slow release fertilizer "Osmocote"

I feed my plant with regular 20-20-20 folia-fertilizer twice a month
And "Senagon" a kind of seaweed substant with help of growth.
