This one is new, nameless, never seen before anywhere even in pictures, drawings nor eternized on prehistoric paintings. No poacher or smuggler have found it in nature and science also missed to get to it so this is tottaly and absolutely NEW. No seed, plant or seedling have been sent out the country to be hidden in a drawer, presented in any garden and traded from it. It fits well on a tray fits better in nature. Its territory is small but well deep in the Araucaria jungle into particular lands. Here it is recovering in a plastic tray but will get a new pottery tray as soon as it recovers and the new root system takes place and spreads through all the substrate. It is small very deeply pigdeon blood red all the times and the under leaves are old cooper (grenish/blueish silvery). A top jewel from North easthern Santa Catarina.

In November there will be the most import orchid exposition in Joinville. The FESTA DAS FLORES, Flower Fest. It is the most import worlwide center for the Laelia purpurta cultivation,
We could take a strol around to see Dyckias in our wilderness. What about?
Here we drink german bier and feed on einsbein. So PROSIT, COME!
...and while this does not happen enjoy this new beauty from Paraná rocks a bit North but still close to me. These were caught some eitght months ago they can get much more silvery on wine like color. It may be one fosteriana affinis.
One of my prefered ones:

I can just say: Super (in French)!!
It's so hard to get Brom in Europe that you make us a kind of "jealous"... ;)
But your bowls are beautiful and specially due to the very rare bromeliads you planted.
Please keep on posting

I do think most of these Dyckias are tottaly new to u.

Beitrag von Constantino Gastaldi »

Yes I do agree with u and thanks. I like the trays with several species of Dyckias in them. I do not want to just keep them otherwise I would plant them all in much more cheaper containers. I abominate those black plastic containers. I have them as the last of the last choice. They boil the roots of the plants when sun exposed and Dyckias must be sun exposed! Here they have their root system boiled and fried when exposed to the sun in black plastic containers. Those are for the saintpaulias the african violets in half shade and even as a last resource. I do not like to jus keep Dyckias I want them to be showy and not just planted uprighted in absolutely strange way to them. Dyckias feed through their roots and their under leaves sides. In nature they are not uprigthed so the wind may bring them food a bit more easily. Of course not all Dyckia plants are in such position in the wilderness.

MEINE LIEBEN GOT! DAS IST ALLES MIT MEINE KRAKEN DEUTCH.
January is the most scorching sunny weather here but also you give a good break in the German cold. Yes you are welcome!

- We can go to the seashore to see the expendid Dyckia encholirioides and you are going to see that there are two varieties but all of them just green, One with normal spination and the one, the science doesn´t see, has much more compact spination. You ca see the diference from a considerable distance.

- We can travel through the Itajaí valley and get to see the Dyckia brevifolia in several spots close to the river. In Ibirama you would see the rare Dyckia ibiramenis and a large new species with distic leaves iqual to D. estevessi from the Cerrado.

- Tillandsias are everywhere like one Egyptian biblical plage. They hang from the telephone wires and eletric ones, from old leaveless tree branches and on the rocks; They are everywhere.

- If we travel farer west we coud see Dyckia reitzi and some other and you would feel cold even in the most fierce sunny month. Urubici, land of the apples and milk and honey.

- Here close, close to me we could see some 18 species of Dyckia all very close to one another in one of the three places in Brazil where this happens generating many confusing studies and fooling the already foolish lazy science.

This is all in Santa Catarina but Rio Grande do Sul and the D. ebdingi and the D. delicata is worthwhile. There you will see D. chorestaminea red form, silver form, normal or regular form, with pale yellow flowers and with almost golden flowers.
...and what about to try your own discovery? A new kind, new species or a new native variety?

Well, in time we can fix this all.
Best regards from Santa Catarina rock fields.
