seed source of Bromeliads

Beitrag von invitro »

Hi all,

It took me much time to post it..
Anyway, I'm glad to be here.

I've been looking for seed sources of Bromeliads, especially genera Tillandsia, Racinaea and Hohenbergia.
DBG Samenliste, BSI seed bank, Utrecht Botanical Gardens and some commercial nurseries such as Koehres are providing some kinds but I'd like to have some more sources which can provide seed of unfamiliar species.

Frank Hase, who had a very nice taste in choice of Tillandsia and Racinaea, kindly sent me some seed around 10 years ago. I do not forget his kindness.

However, I didn't have an established method to germinate hard-to-cultivate species at that time, now I can somehow do well with them as you can see the result in the article on Die Bromelie 2/2009 entitled "In-vitro-Aussaat von Tillandsien".

If any of you know good sources dealing seed of rarely seen Tillandsia and Racinaea. I'd very much appreciate your information. Besides, I'm fascinated with gray-leaved Hohenbergia and cultivating some of them. Until some years ago, several nurseries offer Hohenbergia but it is getting difficult to find them these days. As above, I'm good at germinating seed in vitro, I want Hohenbergia seed much rather than live plants.

If anyone can offer me some Hohenbergia seed, I'd appreciate it, too.

Hi,
well then very welcome in our Bromeliad Forum :D .

As you've already seen, there are at time in the seed bank of the DBG e.V. no Hohenbergia seed.
I can only hope that someone can help you.

Greetings
Klaus

Hello, I have just the seeds list of www. Bromeliad Society and the Dutch / Belgian Bromeliad Society found. But unfortunately here no Hohenbergia seed, too.
Here is the link: Brom-L & BCG Bromeliad Seed Exchange
Greetings
