Can we induce flower xeric bromeliads with chemical method ?

Beitrag von chanin »

As we know, most commercial nurseries or Pineapple crop treat their bromeliad with ‘ETHREL’ or ‘FLOREL’
for inducing flowers for commercial purpose. But I’ve never heard of this method using with Dyckia or its relatives.
Could anybody tell me if there would be someone had done yet?

I doubt that is it possible, if I could induce flower my reluctant bloomer Dyckia with artificial method.
My point is to make the incredible hybrids.
I would like to meet new friends in other part of the world and would be glad to trade plants or seed from this part of the world.

Hi chanin,
I am always happy to trade seeds. I tend to specialise in foliage vresias.
What species are you interested in?

Let me know & I will see if I can send some to you

Thanks Geyornis,
I'm really appreciated for your offering, so do I.
But I'm not much familiar with the mesic bromeliads.
Do you think I could keep Vriesea heiroglyphica in our tropical
(quite hot!!) here in Bankok city? I really love the leaves pattern.

Anyway, I have no idea that in your region, if you can find
the xeric bromeliads that I've been hooked or not such as Dyckia,
Ochagavia, Encholirium,etc...

But the most want which I'm looking for is a common one :
Pitcairnia leopoldii !!!

I just kidding!! that's just a dream for me, Man...

Well, what I have here is quite tropical stuff...please guide me
I will try my best. If you would like some oddities I will find for you
or your good friends who also prefer to trade such as :
Impatiens mirabilis (the Giant Impatiens),
Platycerium ridleyi (the rare ant staghorn fern)
Adenia sp. nova with a huge caudex (good for Botanical Garden!!) etc.

Glad to meet you friend!

Chanin

PS This is a picture of Dyckia dawsonii that has a fine leaves
which I'm looking for, I coppied this image from a book :

BROMELIACEAE III by Francisco Oliva - Esteve
a really great illustrated text book for every bromeliad lovers.
