Till. balsasensis...which is what???
Here is the description Rauh gives in the tectorum complex book.
Here is a photo from a web site calling this balsasensis, that mirrors the plants I have, purchased from Tillandsia International. It does not look anything like a small tectorum as Rauh states. These plants have leaf margins more akin to T. straminea and gardneri. How can these plants be so far apart? Thoughts please?

Denis, your English is FAR better than my German
The booklet, which I do have, is the origin of the top scan. Herr Rauh's description and drawing is very similiar to a small tectorum. All sites that sell balsasensis have plants that look like the lower photo, including Tillandsia Biotype in Thailand. These plants look nothing like Herr Rauh's, I'm just wondering why? Take care.

Hi gonzer,
your plant is definitely NO balsasensis.
I'm not sure but I think we still do have the type-plant alive in our collection.
I'm gonna check that next week and will try to take a picture.
Try to picture it like a Tillandsia grao-mogulensis, formerly known
as Tillandsia kurt-horstii.

Hi Gonzer,
in the same booklet you also have a scan of T. balsasensis (yours is surely none) compared to T. chusgonensis, page 53, you see, my drawing is quite similar, it seems a tiny T. tectorum with one or two spikes.
Maybe your plant comes from Balsas, then it might be Vriesea curvispica, which is growing there (also described by "Herrn Rauh") and looks like yours.
Regards, L.

Hi Gonzer
it took a while but finally I was able to take a picture of our
Tillandsia balsasensis. This is a little piece of a bigger clump.
Please keep in mind that now during the winter the light condition are bad
and that this plant is being keept in much to moist greenhouse.
In summer it looks much better.
I hope this will help you out.
Greetings Timm
PS: This is Prof. Rauhs type-plant 54227 !

That is exactly what we are trying to achieve with our bromwiki.gonzer hat geschrieben:.why can't someone write a definitive book with photos on Tillandsias?
Did you check that yet ?
