This is being sold as T. pucaraensis (I don't think so), but it does share some qualities of aeranthos. What do you think?

Hi gonzer,

Tillandsia pucaraensis is still a little strange to me.
Mrs. Ehlers, who described this species in 1999, told me, that it is
probably the same as Tillandsia guelzii Rauh, 1988, which I have in our collection.
I haven't seen a true pucaraensis yet, but as far as I can remember
the petals are white (i have to give that a check).
Your plant looks more like an aeranthos to me.
Do you have any data on that, is it wild collected or maybe a hybrid ?

Greetings Timm

Timm, Joachim, there is no data available as this is a plant obtained through Tillandsia International. Along with this obviously mis-identified plant, I've gotten two other oddities labeled as aeranthos "Giant", shown below. There are glaring differences just in appearence alone. The flowers are similiar although dissection is needed for closer examination.
