Well, this is not what I call "snow-cover".............

The weathergod was a little faster than me.
For a few years now i been trying to keep 2 certain bromeliad species, namely
FASCICULARIA bicolor (Ruiz & Pavon) Mez, 1896 ssp. bicolor
and
OCHAGAVIA carnea (Beer) L.B.Smith & Looser, 1934
outdoors thru the european winter.
But it wasn't ment to be this way !!!!!!

Both plants were set outside the greenhouses in late spring and were
about to receive their wintershelter today , but.......... the snow was
simply faster. Heidelberg is blessed with a very mild climate and
snow in November is not usual.

Still a pretty sight, though it is not sure if the plants will come up with
some chillblains soon. At least the Fascicularia survived it last time.

Both species are native to southern Chile and escaped from cultivation into
the wild in parts of Great Britain, the channel islands and the french normandy.
So it was worth a shot here.
Well, we will see, at least some nice pics for you.

Cheers Timm
